Economic Development Strategy
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Council is reviewing and updating the region’s Economic Development Strategy (EDS). This EDS will deliver a five-year plan to drive economic growth and prosperity in the region.
The key objectives of the updated Economic Development Strategy are to create a clear direction for economic development initiatives, attract new businesses and investment, foster job creation and ensure the region’s competitiveness. To ensure the accuracy of this document, stakeholder engagement must be conducted with, local businesses, industry representatives, government agencies, and importantly the community.
The 2025 Economic Development Strategy will provide a comprehensive framework and renewed confidence for economic growth in the Charters Towers Region.

DRAFT STRATEGY
Community, local business, industries and government stakeholders are invited to review and provide feedback on the draft 2025-2030 Economic Development Strategy.
This strategy has been shaped by insights gathered during consultations with community members, businesses, industries, and government representatives conducted by consultants, AEC Group. Together, these contributions have guided the development of three focus areas aimed to ensure that communities in Charters Towers Region will realise their potential and become desirable places to live, visit and invest.
These three focus areas are:
- Regional Collaboration & Advocacy
- Investment Attraction & Local Business Support
- Infrastructure Investment & Planning.
Your feedback is essential as part of Council’s commitment to community engagement. Submissions are sought until Monday, 3 March 2025.
