Project Overview

The Greenvale Church was acquired from Queensland Nickel following the closure of the mine. Unfortunately, the building has fallen into disrepair, sustaining significant damage last year to its electrical services also and will require an investment of funds to restore to a usable condition.

Given the low usage of the facility, the building represents a financial burden to the rate payer. As a result, Council is considering various options for the future of the building including the possibility of disposal. Council understands that this might be a matter of concern to the community and want to assure you that Council is committed to hearing your feedback.

Council will thoroughly examine all aspects of the situation before making any decisions. This includes evaluating the suitability of other facilities such as the Greenvale Hall as a potential alternative location for community activities.

Councils’ strategic aspirations focus on delivering high-quality community facilities while ensuring long-term financial sustainability. It is crucial that Council continue to provide the services the community expects both now and into the future.

Council invites you to share your thoughts, concerns, and suggestions regarding the future of the church building. Your feedback is invaluable in helping make an informed decision that best serves the community.

Submissions will be received up to and including Friday, 9 August 2024.
