Help Shape the Future of Recycling in Our Region

As part of the actions identified in Council's Waste Management Strategy 2025–2035, Council is seeking community feedback to help inform future waste and recycling planning across the region.

The Strategy includes a focus on improving resource recovery, reducing waste sent to landfill and ensuring waste and recycling services continue to meet the needs and expectations of the community.

To support these objectives, Council is inviting the community to share their thoughts, views and priorities through a survey to better understand community views on recycling services and future opportunities for waste reduction and resource recovery.

Your feedback will help Council understand what is working well, what challenges residents experience, and what improvements the community would like to see in the future.

As part of this consultation, Council is also exploring community interest in potential future services, including kerbside recycling and garden organics collection.

WHY ARE WE SEEKING FEEDBACK?

Council is committed to making informed decisions that reflect community needs and priorities.

The information gathered through this consultation will help Council:

  • Understand community satisfaction with current recycling services.
  • Identify barriers and challenges that affect recycling participation.
  • Understand community expectations for future recycling services.
  • Measure support for potential service improvements and future initiatives.
  • Gather feedback on willingness to pay for additional services.

WHAT WILL YOUR FEEDBACK BE USED FOR?

Feedback will provide valuable insight into community priorities and help Council build an evidence-based understanding of local recycling needs.

The results will be used to:

  • Inform future waste and recycling service planning.
  • Develop recommendations for potential kerbside recycling services.
  • Consider opportunities for garden organics collection.
  • Support future Council decision-making.
  • Ensure future services align with community expectations.
  • Deliver positive environmental and community outcomes.

HAVE YOUR SAY

Whether you already recycle regularly, would like more recycling options, or have ideas for improving existing services, Council wants to hear from you.

Every response will help shape future recycling initiatives and ensure any future services meet the needs of our community for years to come.

Consultation closes: Friday, 9 October 2026
