Council is exploring community interest in a potential kerbside recycling service and is seeking feedback to better understand community needs, expectations and priorities before considering future options.

A kerbside recycling service is a collection system where eligible recyclable materials are placed in a dedicated recycling bin and collected from residential properties on a regular schedule.

Council is seeking feedback on community interest in a potential garden organics collection service. This could include the collection of items such as grass clippings, leaves, prunings and small branches.

Yes, it would see an increase in the Waste Collection Utility Charge to cover the cost of the intended service. 

As with any future services, it will need to be carefully assessed, including the costs of providing and maintaining them.

As part of this consultation, Council is seeking community feedback on willingness to pay for additional recycling services.

• Understand local recycling challenges.
• Inform future waste and recycling planning.
• Support evidence-based recommendations.
